POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Accounting Manager provides a wide variety of financial accounting services for the Yavapai-Apache Nation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Prefer a High School Diploma or GED, plus a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
• Three (3) years of experience in fund accounting preferred.
• Must have knowledge of accounting principles and government grant reporting.
• Must be able to operate various computer data base systems, MIP accounting software experience a plus.
• Must have personal computer skills and able to operate various office equipment such as fax, copier, etc.
• Must have a valid Arizona Driver License and insurable with the Yavapai-Apache Nation’s insurance policy and maintain insurable throughout the duration of employment.

The Yavapai-Apache Nation reserves the right to waive any of the minimum qualification that, in the opinion of the Tribal Chairperson, will serve as an adequate substitution for those minimum qualifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain financial statements and general ledger accounts.
• Develop reports for internal and external use in accordance with GAAP and GASB.
• Balance internal funds and maintain trial balance for each fund.
• Prepare and coordinate audit statements for audits and act as liaison between Yavapai-Apache Nation and auditors.
• Maintain fixed assets accounts to include purchasing, disposal and depreciation schedules.
• Provide financial reports to governments funding agencies.
• Monitor and assist with the management of federal funds with regards to compliance and federal reporting requirements and OMB circulars.
• Prepare and submits federal and state quarterly and annual tax reports.
• Calculates and prepares W-2 and 1099 statements in accordance with IRS regulations.
• Submit monthly reports to Finance Director.
• Maintain professional education and attend industry related meetings/conferences to keep abreast of changes in requirements, which affect the Nation and current trends in the accounting field.
• Accomplishes other job-related duties and special projects assigned by supervisor or delegate.

PAY RATE: Depending on Experience; Plus Tribal Benefit Package

POSITION STATUS: Regular; Full-time
