The Cultural Resource Center --

The Culture Department is dedicated to preserving the cultures of both the Dilze'e and the Yavape', preserving their identities, languages, traditions, and histories. The Center offers many language learning, classes, events, social dances, and youth
education opportunities.

The Departments --

The Culture Center is comprised of four departments, each with its own department head and focus in their educational and preservation area:

Mission-Purpose --

Preservation & Technology is dedicated to collection and archival preservation of images, both historical and contemporary, oral histories, tribal documents, interviews, and digital stories. Preservation and Technology works toward preservation and revitalization of the Native languages, Yavapai and Apache by producing language learning media, created with modern technology, for distribution to members of the Nation.

The language area of Preservation and Technology's mission is to preserves, restore, and archive both Yavapai and Apache language, spiritual aspects, medicinal use of plants, and life skills for future generations of the Yavapai-Apache Nation.

Production--

The departments is available to assist with production in the following areas:

  • Special Events, Archival Events, Lectures & Speeches

  • Animation & Special Motion Effects

  • Videography and Multimedia Projects

Leonard "Lefty" Harris, Sr. is 87 year old member of the Yavapai-Apache Nation. He is a Golden Glove Champion who fought an exhibition fight against Joe Lewis early in his life. Lefty tells of his battle with alcoholism.

Language--

Preservation and Technology works to preserve the languages of both the Yavapai and Apache people. We teach through the use of modern language tools that present traditional stories, songs, history, place names, medicinal and edible plants, and clan and band genealogy.
